A Pallett Wedding Cadeby

A Pallett Wedding Cadeby

The Pallett family date as far back as the late 17th Century in Cadeby. This is the wedding, on 26 December 1901, of Alfred Pallett to Lucy Emma Spencer. The happy couple are centre. To the groom's right is his father, Joseph Pallett (my 2x Great Grandfather). My Great Grandparents, Walter & Ellen Pallett, are back row, right side. It would be interesting to know if any others could possibly be named? This picture is noted simply "Cadeby Farm". I would hazard a guess at early 1900s?

Herbert Worthington

Herbert Worthington

Herbert E. Worthington Rector of Cadeby from 1891 to 1897 when he became Rector of nearby Netherseal. He was involved the notorious 'Girl In The Cathedral' scandal in 1921. The scandal achieved national notoriety when, amongst others, he provided evidence, almost certainly fabricated, that led to his own brother in law, John Wakeford, Precentor of Lincoln Cathedral, to be convicted of committing adultery with a woman in a pub in Peterborough. A book by John Treherne tells the full story.
