FOREWORD
To celebrate the arrival of a new millennium, it was decided to publish this book as a keepsake for parishioners and guide for visitors to the village.
It chronicles the history of Cadeby and its most colourful characters and includes living memories of its inhabitants, brought up to date with a record of the village in 2000.
Thanks are due to all who have shared their reminiscences, research and thoughts on village life at the beginning of the third millennium.
We hope you find it an interesting and enjoyable read.

Postcard From Lucy Pallett and Cadeby School
Two photographs, one a postcard from a Cadeby resident Lucy Pallett posted to her aunt, showing children at Cadeby School, (now Jasmine Cottage). One dated by the post mark from 1906 the other from an unknown date. Which picture is the front of the postcard is a guess, but looking at the size of the photos and corresponding creases would suggest it is the smaller of the two.
Archive Footage of Cadeby Leicestershire
This 35 minute film is a compilation of archive home movies of Cadeby from the collection of Audrey Boston. It includes shots of the village, Cadeby Village Fete, Steam days at the Rectory including Morris Dancing from the Leicestershire Morrismen and the Jerusalem Jammers and the wedding of Teddy & Audrey Boston. It was compiled to be shown alongside a Flower Festival in Cadeby Church to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the death of Rev. Teddy Boston in 2016.
BFI Film on Cadeby Steam Museum 1973
Edwin 'Teddy' Boston, the Rector of Cadeby in Leicestershire, was nicknamed 'the fat clergyman' by that fellow railway enthusiast and man of the cloth, Reverend W. Awdry. Here we see Boston demonstrating his pride and joy: a scale model of a Devon section of the Great Western Railway. Particularly impressive is his devotion to scale accuracy even going as far as creating a fast running clock that can replicate the entire working day in only three hours.
Teddy Boston, who also operated a working narrow gauge railway in his garden, died in 1986.
